1 Ch 12:32 Of the sons of Issachar, men who understood the times, with knowledge of what Israel should do, their chiefs were two hundred; and all their kinsmen were at their command.

The sons of Issachar were intelligent men, who understood the signs of the times, well versed in political affairs, and knew what was proper to be done in all the exigencies of human life; and who now perceived that it was both the duty and political interest of Israel to advance David to the throne.Today we seek sons and daughters of Issachar, men and women who understand the times we are living in and know what is to be done in all the exigencies of human life to advance King Jesus to His throne.

This blog is devoted to seeking Biblical truth related to current world events.

A Tale of Two Kings

 A TALE OF TWO KINGS – From 1 Kings 1 and 2

August 2022

In God’s land of Israel, there was a time when there were two kings. King David was old and feeble. The government of Israel was weak and unstable. Then his son Adonijah appointed himself King of Israel. King David however had sworn that his son Solomon was to be King in his place because that was God’s choice and direction to David. Some of King David’s closest priests, prophets, and advisors sided with Adonijah and others remained true to David and Solomon including David’s mighty men of war. But some priests, prophets, advisors, and military turned on David and Solomon and followed and supported Adonijah.

Before David died he made Solomon the rightful king of Israel unbeknownst to Adonijah and his followers. Then there were two who claimed to be King for a very short while. But when Adonijah heard that David had made Solomon the rightful king, he fled to the protection of “the horns of the altar” in the Temple (pleaded for mercy). At this Adonijah’s friends and supporters abandoned him in fear. At first, Solomon showed Adonijah grace and did not have him killed. But when Adonijah again tried to make a move to return to power, Solomon had him killed. Solomon also dealt harshly with the priests, prophets, and Joab, representing the part of the army that had supported Adonijah. He had them killed and then He replaced them with his own true and trusted priests, prophets, advisors, and military leaders.

How might all of this be a foreshowing of our day? Our government is right now weak and unstable. A usurper of the presidency has claimed to be president. Behind him is another who is a shadow president and is in effect acting as president. In effect, there are two “presidents” in our nation right now. At present, there are “priests, prophets, advisors, and military that support this man. There are also priests, prophets, advisors, and military that support another who many claim to be the rightful, God-given leader of our country. There are some people that claim that this man is still the real president. Again, two presidents in the land.

Will the time come when the rightful leader will be recognized and officially and publicly made president? What will happen to the usurper who wants to be president? If the story of Solomon and Adonijah is a foreshadowing of our day, our “Solomon” will be made president and the usurper will be exposed, abandoned by his supporters, and eventually killed. His closest advisors, priests, prophets, and military leaders will also be killed. And the “throne”, the presidency will be given to the man God has chosen to lead this nation.

It should be noted that several of David’s and Solomon’s close advisors, priests, prophets, and military leaders turned against them when it seemed politically expedient and profitable to do so. If this speculation holds, we can expect that we are going to be surprised by who stands by the rightful president and who turns against him. In the end, it will turn out very badly for those that turn against him.
