1 Ch 12:32 Of the sons of Issachar, men who understood the times, with knowledge of what Israel should do, their chiefs were two hundred; and all their kinsmen were at their command.

The sons of Issachar were intelligent men, who understood the signs of the times, well versed in political affairs, and knew what was proper to be done in all the exigencies of human life; and who now perceived that it was both the duty and political interest of Israel to advance David to the throne.Today we seek sons and daughters of Issachar, men and women who understand the times we are living in and know what is to be done in all the exigencies of human life to advance King Jesus to His throne.

This blog is devoted to seeking Biblical truth related to current world events.

God’s promises of a future and a hope to those that love Him December 2022

In today's world of deceptions, lies, confusion, and just plain evil I thought it good for us to remember the future the Lord promises us as believers.

[Jer 29:11 NKJV] For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
"God’s promises of a future and a hope to those that love Him"

God’s promises of a future and a hope to those that love Him

December 2022

[Jer 29:11 NKJV] For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

God’s promises for your future:

To be with the Lord Jesus forever:

[1Th 4:13 NKJV] But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope.

[1Th 4:14 NKJV] For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.

[1Th 4:15 NKJV] For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive [and] remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep.

[1Th 4:16 NKJV] For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.

[1Th 4:17 NKJV] Then we who are alive [and] remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.

[1Th 4:18 NKJV] Therefore comfort one another with these words.

[Jhn 14:1 NKJV] "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.

[Jhn 14:2 NKJV] "In My Father's house are many mansions; if [it were] not [so], I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

[Jhn 14:3 NKJV] "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, [there] you may be also.

To have new incorruptible bodies:

[1Co 15:48 NKJV] As [was] the [man] of dust, so also [are] those [who are made] of dust; and as [is] the heavenly [Man], so also [are] those [who are] heavenly.

[1Co 15:49 NKJV] And as we have borne the image of the [man] of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly [Man].

[1Co 15:50 NKJV] Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption.

[1Co 15:51 NKJV] Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed--

[1Co 15:52 NKJV] in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

[1Co 15:53 NKJV] For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal [must] put on immortality.

[1Co 15:54 NKJV] So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: "Death is swallowed up in victory."

Christ in you, the hope of glory, the coming of the Holy Spirit, and the unity of the Spirit:

[Col 1:27 NKJV] To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

[Jhn 14:15 NKJV] "If you love Me, keep My commandments.

[Jhn 14:16 NKJV] "And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever--

[Jhn 14:17 NKJV] "the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.

[Jhn 14:18 NKJV] "I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.

[Jhn 14:19 NKJV] "A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also.

[Jhn 14:20 NKJV] "At that day you will know that I [am] in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.

[Jhn 17:20 NKJV] "I do not pray for these (His disciples) alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word;

[Jhn 17:21 NKJV] "that they all may be one, as You, Father, [are] in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.

[Jhn 17:22 NKJV] "And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one:

[Jhn 17:23 NKJV] "I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.

[Jhn 17:24 NKJV] "Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.

[Jhn 17:25 NKJV] "O righteous Father! The world has not known You, but I have known You; and these have known that You sent Me.

[Jhn 17:26 NKJV] "And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare [it], that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them."

The Bible is full of examples of God providing for His people. Time and again the God of life promises to provide whether our need is land, food, shelter, comfort or hope.

  •  Matthew 6:31-33 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

IV.          Amazing things Jesus promised

During His time on earth, Jesus made many promises about the peace and hope He offers us. This collection of Jesus’ promises gives us great hope that He truly is the Savior of the world.

  •  Matthew 11:28-30 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
  •  John 14:6 Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’

  •  John 14:1-3 Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.

V.           God’s promises about answering prayer

Prayer is so powerful! Reflect on these Bible verses about prayer and let God’s promises spur you on to pray to your Heavenly Father and share your hopes and needs with Him today.

  •  James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.

For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!
  • Jeremiah 29:12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.
  • Psalm 102:17 He will respond to the prayer of the destitute; he will not despise their plea.
  • Psalm 14518 The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.

VI.          God’s promises about salvation

Finally, take a moment to remember the most precious of all God’s promises to us. Thanks to Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross, God promises to forgive us and give us eternal life with Him.

  •  John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
  •  1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
  •  2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

  •  Romans 10:9-10 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
