Are there aliens on earth today?
D.P. Weary, January 6, 2022
Alien: belonging to a foreign country or nation: a
foreigner, especially one who is not a naturalized citizen of the country where
they are living: a hypothetical or fictional being from another world: being or
from or characteristic of another place or part of the world: belonging
or relating to another person, place, or thing.
Did Jesus answer this question Himself?
These are Jesus’ words as He was praying to the Father.
Jesus is speaking about His disciples and all those who will come to believe in
Him.
[Jhn 17:6 ESV] "I have
manifested your name to the people whom you gave me out of the world. Yours they were, and
you gave them to me, and they have kept your word.
[Jhn 17:9 ESV] I am praying for
them. I am not praying for the world but for those whom you have given me, for
they are yours.
[Jhn 17:14 ESV] I have given them
your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the
world.
[Jhn 17:15 ESV] I do not ask that
you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one.
[Jhn 17:16 ESV] They are not of the world,
just as I am not of the world.
[Jhn 15:18 ESV] "If the world
hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you.
[Jhn 15:19 ESV] If you were of the
world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you
out of the world, therefore the world hates you.
[Jhn 17:20 ESV] "I do not ask for these
only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word,
Yes indeed, there are aliens in our world today and if you
are a born-again and Spirit-empowered believer in and disciple of the Lord
Jesus, you are the alien.
When we think of aliens, we tend to think of them as superheroes
or villains. They tend to have special powers and abilities. They often look
like human beings, but really look like something different. Their basic nature
and characteristics are different from human beings of the earth. They come
from a place with different characteristics and physical laws from the earth. Even
time itself is different from time on the earth.
So, if born again believers in the Lord Jesus are indeed
aliens, do we fit the definition and our picture of “aliens”?
As aliens from “another world”, a world we call the Kingdom
of God”, what are the characteristics of a citizen of the Kingdom of God?
1.
They can not die. They are eternal beings with
imperishable bodies.
a.
[1Co 15:50-55 ESV] (50) I tell you this,
brothers: flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the
perishable inherit the imperishable. (51) Behold! I tell you a mystery. We
shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, (52) in a moment, in the
twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the
dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. (53) For this
perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on
immortality. (54) When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal
puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written:
"Death is swallowed up in victory." (55) "O death, where is your
victory? O death, where is your sting?"
b.
[Jhn 3:15-16, 36 ESV] (15) that whoever believes
in him may have eternal life. (16) "For God so loved the world, that he
gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have
eternal life. ... (36) Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever
does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.
c.
[Jhn 5:24 ESV] (24) Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever
hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come
into judgment, but has passed from death to life.
d.
[Jhn 6:47 ESV] (47) Truly, truly, I say to you,
whoever believes has eternal life.
e.
[Jhn 10:28 ESV] (28) I give them eternal life,
and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.
2.
Reborn by the Spirit of God, a new creation.
a.
[1Pe 1:23 ESV] (23) since you have been born
again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and
abiding word of God;
b.
[Jhn 3:5-6 ESV] (5) Jesus answered, “Truly,
truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot
enter the kingdom of God. (6) That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and
that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
c.
[2Co 5:17 ESV] (17) Therefore, if anyone is in
Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has
come.
3.
Given special powers by the Spirit of God.
a.
[Act 1:8 ESV] (8) But you will receive power
when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in
Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
b.
[1Co 12:4-11 ESV] (4) Now there are varieties of
gifts, but the same Spirit; (5) and there are varieties of service, but the
same Lord; (6) and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God
who empowers them all in everyone. (7) To each is given the manifestation of
the Spirit for the common good. (8) For to one is given through the Spirit the
utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the
same Spirit, (9) to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of
healing by the one Spirit, (10) to another the working of miracles, to another
prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another
various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. (11) All
these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one
individually as he wills.
4.
Given great authority.
a.
[Mat 10:1 ESV] (1) And he called to him his
twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them
out, and to heal every disease and every affliction.
b.
[Mar 3:15 ESV] (15) and have authority to cast
out demons.
c.
[Mar 6:7 ESV] (7) And he called the twelve and
began to send them out two by two, and gave them authority over the unclean
spirits.
d.
[Luk 10:19 ESV] (19) Behold, I have given you
authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the
enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.
e.
[Luk 19:17 ESV] (17) And he said to him, ‘Well
done, good servant! Because you have been faithful in a very little, you shall
have authority over ten cities.’
f.
[2Co 10:8 ESV] (8) For even if I boast a little
too much of our authority, which the Lord gave for building you up and not for
destroying you, I will not be ashamed.
g.
[Rev 2:26 ESV] (26) The one who conquers and who
keeps my works until the end, to him I will give authority over the nations,
The power and the right to
exercise that power, which is authority, that has been released to the saints
of God to use on earth is to be used for specific things.
·
It is authority over evil
spirits, demons, and the power of the enemy:
It is also authority over sickness and the authority to heal
diseases.
·
Matthew 10:1 He called his twelve disciples to him
and gave them authority to drive out evil spirits and to heal every
disease and sickness.
·
Luke 9:1 When Jesus had called the Twelve together,
he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure
diseases,
·
Luke 10:19 I have given you authority to trample
on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing
will harm you.
·
Mark 6:7 Calling the Twelve to him, he sent them
out two by two and gave them authority over evil spirits.
·
Mark 16:17 And these signs will accompany those who
believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new
tongues;
·
It is the authority
to bind and to loose things on earth.
·
Matthew 16:19 I will give you the keys of the
kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and
whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
·
It is the authority
to encourage and build up the saints of God on earth.
·
2 Corinthians 10:8 For even if I boast somewhat
freely about the authority the Lord gave us for building you up rather
than pulling you down, I will not be ashamed of it.
·
Titus 2:15 – These, then, are the things you should
teach. Encourage and rebuke with all authority. Do not let anyone
despise you.
·
It is the power
and authority to be His witnesses in all the earth.
·
Acts 1:8 -
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you
will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the
ends of the earth.” (Matt. 28:18-19)
·
And to those who are overcomers and do His will to
the end, He will give power and
authority over the nations.
·
Revelation 2:26 To him who overcomes and does my
will to the end, I will give authority over the nations – (NIV)
·
The Church, Jesus’ bride, is to rule and reign with
Him as kings and priests. Lk.
12:32, Rev. 3:21, 1 Cor. 6:2-3, Jn. 17:22, Rom. 8:17, 1 Pet. 2:9.
5.
Are the Lord Jesus’ ambassadors on the earth.
a.
[2Co 5:20 ESV] (20) Therefore, we are
ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on
behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
6.
Are leaders and priests in the Kingdom of God.
a.
[Rev 5:10 NKJV] (10) And have made us kings and
priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth.”
7.
Are given a specific assignment on the earth.
a.
[Mat 28:19-20 ESV] (19) Go therefore and make
disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the
Son and of the Holy Spirit, (20) teaching them to observe all that I have
commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
It
is at this point that our initial question gets very uncomfortable. If the
church is supposed to be these aliens from the Kingdom of God, then why does it
not exhibit the characteristics of these aliens. More personally, if I or you
are one of these aliens, are we living like it?
It
is true that some people that go to church have not really been born again by
the Spirit and are not aliens from the Kingdom of God. Others have never sought
after the power and authority that the Lord gives His own through the Holy
Spirit. But it is also true that most of us are not living up to the potential
the Lord has given us. We are living in very peculiar times. So many of the
signs of the times the Lord has given us regarding His second coming are
happening all around us. It really does seem that we have entered the days the
Lord calls the beginning of the birth pains (Matt 24:3-8). A new day, a new era
is dawning and it is time for the true church to arise. Can we dare to believe
that we, the born-again, Spirit empower, believers in and disciples of the Lord
Jesus are the aliens God has sent into the world with unearthly characteristics,
special powers, and authority to rescue people from a dark and evil world? Can
we dare to start living fully into the fullness of who we really are in Christ
Jesus?
[Mat 28:19-20 ESV] (19) Go therefore
and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and
of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, (20) teaching them to observe all that I
have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
