TRUTH
[Jhn 18:38 NKJV] 38 Pilate said to Him, "What is truth?"
And when he had said this, he went out again to the Jews, and said to them,
"I find no fault in Him at all.
This is the question of the ages. What is truth?
[In ancient Greek culture, truth (alḗtheia) was
synonymous for "reality"
as the opposite of illusion, i.e. fact.]
[Jhn 1:17 NKJV] 17 For the law was given through Moses,
[but] grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
The law was given through Moses, but
Truth came through Jesus Christ.
[Jhn 8:32 NKJV] 32 "And you shall know the truth, and
the truth shall make you free."
It is something that sets men truly free.
Revelation truth breaks bondages, heals the brokenhearted, dispels deceptions
and lies, comforts those that mourn, encourages the downtrodden, and brings
hope to the hopeless and despairing.
[Jhn 14:6, 17 NKJV] 6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way,
the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. ... 17
"the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither
sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in
you.
Jesus said that He is truth. Truth
is a spirit that dwells within people. The world cannot receive truth because it
does not see or know Him, the Spirit of truth.
[Jhn 16:13 NKJV] 13 "However, when He, the Spirit of
truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His
own [authority], but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you
things to come
The Spirit of truth guides people into
all truth because He speaks only that that comes from God. All truth includes situational truth and truth about things
to come.
[Jhn 17:17, 19 NKJV] 17 "Sanctify them by Your truth.
Your word is truth. ... 19 "And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that
they also may be sanctified by the truth.
Truth is God’s Word. It is what sanctifies
people. It is the truth of God’s word that sanctifies people and sets them truly
free.
Sanctify - hag-ee-ad'-zo; from G40; to make holy,
i.e. (ceremonially) purify or consecrate; (mentally) to venerate:—hallow, be
holy, sanctify.
“The word hagios (rendered
‘sanctify,’ ‘hallow,’ ‘consecrate’) means to set-apart-and-devote-to-God:
whether it be things, or sacrificial animals, or men for His service.” (Trench)
[Gal 2:5 NKJV] 5 to whom we did not yield submission even
for an hour, that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.
The gospel is truth.
[Gal 3:1 NKJV] 1 O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you
that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly
portrayed among you as crucified?
The truth is something to be obeyed.
[2Ti 2:15, 25 NKJV] 15 Be diligent to present yourself
approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the
word of truth. ... 25 in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if
God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth,
Truth is given as a gift but is
contingent upon repentance.
[1Jo 1:8 NKJV] 8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive
ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
Truth is not in those that say they
have no sin.
[1Jo 5:6 NKJV] 6 This is He who came by water and
blood--Jesus Christ; not only by water, but by water and blood. And it is the
Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is truth.
The Spirit is truth.
[2Jo 1:2 NKJV] 2 because of the truth which abides in us and
will be with us forever:
Truth is the Spirit that abides in
the children of God forever.
What is truth? Truth
is God. Truth is Jesus the Son of God. Truth is the Holy Spirit of God. Truth
is the words of God as recorded in God’s Word. Truth is the gospel of Jesus. Truth
is given to people when they are born again by the Spirit of God through repentance
and receiving Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Situational truth and revelation
of things to come are given to people by the Holy Spirit because He only speaks
the words of God. Truth is the wisdom and knowledge of God released to mankind
through Jesus the Son of God, the indwelling Holy Spirit of God, and the
written Word of God.
Truth sanctifies (makes men holy and
set apart for God). Revelation truth breaks bondages, heals the brokenhearted
and the sick, dispels deceptions and lies, comforts those that mourn,
encourages the downtrodden and oppressed, and brings hope to the hopeless and
despairing. Truth sets men truly free. Truth
brings salvation and eternal life to mankind.
Do you know TRUTH?
