1 Ch 12:32 Of the sons of Issachar, men who understood the times, with knowledge of what Israel should do, their chiefs were two hundred; and all their kinsmen were at their command.

The sons of Issachar were intelligent men, who understood the signs of the times, well versed in political affairs, and knew what was proper to be done in all the exigencies of human life; and who now perceived that it was both the duty and political interest of Israel to advance David to the throne.Today we seek sons and daughters of Issachar, men and women who understand the times we are living in and know what is to be done in all the exigencies of human life to advance King Jesus to His throne.

This blog is devoted to seeking Biblical truth related to current world events.

The word for 8-27-2021

 The word for today, 8-27-2021

This is an end-times prophecy about “the Kings of the earth”. This is a message for our day.

(1) Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain? (2) The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and against his Anointed, saying, (3) "Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us." (4) He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision. (5) Then he will speak to them in his wrath, and terrify them in his fury, saying, (6) "As for me, I have set my King on Zion, my holy hill." [Psa 2:1-6 ESV]

In the book of Acts, Peter and John proclaimed this scripture to local leaders in Jerusalem. Note that the prophecy was about “the kings of the earth”. Like many prophecies, this was a partial fulfillment of the prophecy but the final fulfillment was yet for a future day.

(23) When they were released, they went to their friends and reported what the chief priests and the elders had said to them. (24) And when they heard it, they lifted their voices together to God and said, "Sovereign Lord, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and everything in them, (25) who through the mouth of our father David, your servant, said by the Holy Spirit, "'Why did the Gentiles rage, and the peoples plot in vain? (26) The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers were gathered together, against the Lord and against his Anointed'-- (27) for truly in this city there were gathered together against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, (28) to do whatever your hand and your plan had predestined to take place. (29) And now, Lord, look upon their threats and grant to your servants to continue to speak your word with all boldness, (30) while you stretch out your hand to heal, and signs and wonders are performed through the name of your holy servant Jesus." (31) And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness. [Act 4:23-31 ESV]

Today it is the kings of the earth that are raging and taking counsel against the LORD and His anointed. We can take courage and have a sure hope that the current chaos and evil that is in the world today will come to nothing as the LORD only laughs at them. Then He will speak to them in His wrath, and terrify them in His fury! Note what followed the proclaiming of this scripture. They prayed to speak His word with all boldness while the LORD stretched out His hand to heal, and the signs and wonder be performed through the name of Jesus. Then they were filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness.

This is a word of the LORD for our day! Note what Jesus told His disciples when they ask about the signs of His coming and the end of the age.

 (3) As he sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?" (4) And Jesus answered them, "See that no one leads you astray. (5) For many will come in my name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and they will lead many astray. (6) And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet. (7) For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. (8) All these are but the beginning of the birth pains. ... (13) But the one who endures to the end will be saved. (14) And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. [Mat 24:3-8, 13-14 ESV]

We are experiencing the beginnings of the birth pains of the coming of King Jesus. But the end is not quite yet for there are many people yet to be gathered into the Kingdom.

(1) Once more Jesus spoke to them in parables: (2) "The kingdom of heaven is like a king who gave a wedding banquet for his son. (3) "He sent his servants to summon those invited to the banquet, but they didn't want to come. (4) "Again, he sent out other servants and said, 'Tell those who are invited: See, I've prepared my dinner; my oxen and fattened cattle have been slaughtered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding banquet.'  (5) "But they paid no attention and went away, one to his own farm, another to his business, (6) "while the rest seized his servants, mistreated them, and killed them. (7) "The king was enraged, and he sent out his troops, killed those murderers, and burned down their city.  (8) "Then he told his servants, 'The banquet is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy. (9) "Go then to where the roads exit the city and invite everyone you find to the banquet.' (10) "So those servants went out on the roads and gathered everyone they found, both evil and good. The wedding banquet was filled with guests. [Mat 22:1-10 CSB]

The wedding banquet for Jesus has been prepared and everything is ready but the wedding hall is not yet full. We are to go out into the world and invite to the wedding feast as many as we can find! Then when the wedding hall is full and “the fullness of the Gentiles has come in” the Lord will come for His bride and the wedding will commence.

(25) I want you to understand this mystery, dear brothers and sisters, so that you will not feel proud about yourselves. Some of the people of Israel have hard hearts, but this will last only until the full number (plērōma - that which fills or with which a thing is filled with those things which a ship is filled, freight and merchandise, sailors, oarsmen, soldiers, and the boat is ready to sail) of Gentiles comes to Christ. (26) And (kai - then) so (hoytō – after or in this manner) all Israel will be saved. As the Scriptures say, "The one who rescues will come from Jerusalem, and he will turn Israel away from ungodliness. (27) And this is my covenant with them, that I will take away their sins." [Rom 11:25-27 NLT]
